There are a total of 4 virtual USB MIDI ports exposed to the computer. USB MIDI Port 1 is reserved for communicating with the Editor.
By default, the controller is set to send MIDI only on USB Port 1. This setting can be changed in the Controller Settings tab in the editor, under General Configuration >> Virtual USB MIDI ports.
In Windows, you can only connect one software to one port at any one time, which is why we added this 4 virtual port feature, which allows you to connect the MC to more softwares.
What you'll need to do is change the Virtual USB MIDI port setting to 2 (this will send MIDI on Port 1 and 2), save the settings and then restart the controller. Then, connect the controller to Ableton (or any other MIDI software you are using) first on Port 2 before connecting to the Editor on Port 1.
