The Virtual USB MIDI Ports allows the computer to see 4 connected USB MIDI ports. The default Virtual USB MIDI port setting in the Controller Settings is set to 1, which means that MIDI messages are only sent on Port 1.
If you increase the setting to 2, MIDI messages will be sent on Port 1 and Port 2. If you increase the setting to 4, MIDI messages will be sent on all 4 ports.
This allows you to connect different software to different ports. In Windows OS, when a software is connected to a USB MIDI port, that port is no longer accessible to other programs. Hence, this feature is useful when you have multiple software that you want to control in Windows. In macOS, there is no such issues and hence using just Port 1 is enough.
The Morningstar Editor only communicates with the controller on Port 1.
